This includes all data stored on Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. But <strong>you can prevent it by following the steps outlined on this page.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Although Europe had previously opposed this successfully, Meta now claims that a lack of objection implies consent. Their argument is that if you don\u2019t explicitly say you don\u2019t want your data to be used, they will assume you agree. It\u2019s a way of taking advantage of those who, out of laziness, won\u2019t take the steps to stop Meta from using their data to train AI.<\/p>\n<p>The personal data Meta will use to train AI includes everything except private messages. <strong>Your photos, comments, posts, stories, interactions, and captions.<\/strong> What they won\u2019t use are your private messages and anything written in Messenger. If you are under 18, your data will not be used either.<\/p>\n<p>On <strong>WhatsApp<\/strong>, for example, <strong>only conversations with Meta AI will be used<\/strong>, and group messages will only be used if Meta AI is mentioned. All other WhatsApp conversations will not be used. Once inside, scroll down to the <strong>About and help<\/strong> section, and tap <strong>Information.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On the next screen, click on Privacy Policy, and within the text, look for the word \u201cObject\u201d in the second paragraph, highlighted in blue (yes, they really tried to hide it). Clicking on \u201cObject\u201d will take you to a form where you\u2019ll need to enter your email and comments. Make sure the email is sent from the address associated with your Facebook or Instagram account.
