The Fox Sports commercial for the Women’s World Cup: “Usa vs The World”
The Fox Sports commercial for the Women’s World Cup presents the current champions as the rival to beat.
When we talk about women’s soccer, we have to talk about the great dominator: USA. Four world titles, four Olympic Games gold medals and eight Concacaf championships. It has 30 million players in the country and its great rivals are Sweden, Germany and France, countries with a great soccer tradition.
Now comes the Women’s Soccer World Cup in Australia and New Zealand and they are the rivals to beat. A good account of this is given by the Fox Sports advertising campaign that presents the World Cup as a USA vs. The rest of the world.

In a comical tone, we see how different countries come up with new strategies to stop the big American stars known to all. From canceling flights, analyzing them virtually, spying on them with drones or traveling in time to prevent them from starting to play soccer. Alex Morgan, Megan Rapinoe, Rose Lavelle, Crystal Dunn and Naomi Girma are some of the players featured in the commercial, as well as FOX Sports new analyst Carli Lloyd.
According to Robert Gottlieb, President of Marketing for FOX Sports: “At FOX Sports we are passionate fans of women’s soccer in the United States. Since our first World Cup in 2015, we have sought to raise the bar in our campaigns by highlighting these soccer players. She was a great opportunity to have fun with the idea that everyone will be on a mission to defeat the American team.”
