Heinz’s Halloween advert features a vegetarian vampire
Heinz’s advert introduces us to a vampire who feeds on “tomato blood.”
Halloween is here and Anglo-Saxon brands launch their themed campaigns for the occasion. They are usually very creative actions that aim to attract attention only on this date. Although here in Spain little by little it is taking root, it is true that Halloween is not yet a claim for national brands.
One of the most original campaigns carried out this year is the Heinz commercial, which invites consumers to eat “tomato blood” these days.
“Vegetarian Vampire” is the title of Heinz’s advert for Halloween. It has been made by the Wieden + Kennedy agency and produced by 1stAveMachine. In it we are introduced to Toby, a 280-year-old vegetarian vampire who follows the aesthetics of influencers and activists. Since he renounced the traditional vampire lifestyle he has fed on Heinz brand Tomato Blood.
In a series of more Youtuber-esque shots and performances, Toby comments, “The next time you want to eat someone, I hope you’ll reconsider and go vegetarian. A few hundred years ago, I was about to feast on this human, and then we started talking.”
Heinz’s advert takes the opportunity to remember that its product is of plant origin, since it is made from vegan ingredients.
With this campaign Heinz also remembers that its ketchup is made from plant-based ingredients, which makes it a vegan product. In addition, for this Halloween the brand has launched new sauces with different flavors that they have baptized as “skeleton”, “pumpkin” and “vampire”.
