This is the case of the Intermarché Christmas advert, which presents us with a traditional animation story created in 3D, reinventing the Big Bad Wolf tale to convey a message of togetherness and generosity.

Intermarché – Conte de Noël

The Intermarché Christmas advert is titled “Conte de Noël” and was created by the agency Romance, together with the production company Dive and the animation studio Wizz. It is a short film that combines live action with 3D animation, becoming one of the most heartwarming pieces of the holiday season.

The story begins with a child who receives a stuffed wolf as a gift from his uncle. Frightened, he needs an explanation, and that’s when the tale begins: a lonely wolf feared by all the forest animals decides to stop eating meat. Hoping to make friends and fit into the community, he learns to cook delicious vegetarian dishes made with fresh ingredients such as mushrooms and carrots, all part of Intermarché’s fresh produce offering.

The fable shows us a wolf who adapts his diet to find his place in the forest society, demonstrating that cooking and sharing food can transform relationships and break down barriers. The animated aesthetic of Intermarché’s Christmas advert, inspired by holiday tales and children’s book illustrations, reinforces the tender and fantastical nature of the story.

According to its creators in a statement: “The campaign celebrates the power of food to bring together those who are different. The blend of live action and animation aims to reflect children’s imagination and sensitively convey a universal message: sharing a meal can change everything.”
