Christmas commercials are already out and with them, we can experience magical and inspiring moments. The adverts from Deutsche Telekom, Sainsbury’s, Aldi or John Lewis, each with their own unique style, have kicked off the Christmas campaign.
But we were missing a classic Christmas story, about kindness and selfless favours. And that is precisely what Lidl’s Christmas advert contains. In it, the brand encourages us to make selfless donations without expecting anything in return.
Lidl – Magical Christmas
“Magical Christmas” is the title of Lidl’s Christmas advert. It was directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Tom Hooper. The brand wants you to donate a toy to the “Lidl Toy’s Bank” this Christmas so that other children in need can play with it.
The piece shows us some children playing with a sled in the snow, except for one, who watches it from a distance. The little girl looks at it, and when she returns home, she does not hesitate to selflessly help a poor old lady who has dropped her shopping. This old lady gives him a couple of Christmas decoration bells and encourages him to make a wish.
At Christmas dinner, everyone makes a wish, such as changing the brussels sprouts into cookies, for the stuffed animals to become real animals or for the gingerbread cookies to become giants. When it is the little girl’s turn, she wishes that the boy she found in the park has a hat so he can keep warm and ride with her on the sled.
Lidl’s Christmas advert accompanies the “Lidl Toy’s Bank” initiative and encourages children to make a small donation that will help other children enjoy the Christmas holidays.
