In fact, the title of the State Farm advert is a play on words between the actor’s last name, “Bateman,” and the name of the bat. Everything helps to introduce a fallen superhero who pretends to be Gotham’s masked vigilante.

The piece presents a gritty, dark, and decayed Gotham in a cinematic tone. Suddenly, Commissioner Gordon lights up the Bat-Signal to call Batman. When he appears, it turns out to be Bateman with his own unconventional methods.
